Working with the Panel on the Nonprofit Sector are 175 executives and experts with extensive knowledge of and experience with public charities and private foundations. Drawn from organizations of all sizes serving diverse missions and geographic locations, they advised the Panel as it developed recommendations on how to ensure that nonprofits remain a vibrant, responsive, and effective part of American society.

These participants, all of whom volunteered for this important work, joined one of nine groups:

In order to ensure the inclusion of diverse needs of the nonprofit community, the Panel also solicited input from across the country. It encouraged staff and board members of nonprofit public charities, corporate philanthropy programs, and private foundations to participate in conference calls, to submit their comments and concerns via the Panel website, and to attend the field hearings.
